West Indies captain Roston Chase won the toss and chose to bat first in the second Test at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, sending Bangladesh into the field. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who had won the toss in Mirpur, had no luck with the coin in Sylhet.

Bangladesh have no alternative but to win this Test to stay in the series. The hosts trail 0-1 after losing the first Test in Mirpur by eight wickets following a second-innings batting collapse.

It is not only about saving the series: Bangladesh also need a win in Sylhet to keep alive their hopes of reaching the World Test Championship final.

Bangladesh have made two changes to the eleven for the second Test. Mushfiqur Rahim plays in place of Mominul Haque, who suffered a head injury in the first Test, and Taskin Ahmed returns to the side in place of Shoriful Islam.

In the first Test, Bangladesh's batters failed to meet expectations, and the bowlers also failed to prove their ability. Bangladesh paid the price especially in the second innings for being unable to maintain line and length, variation and turn.

To level the series in Sylhet, the bowlers will therefore have to perform responsibly alongside the batters.
