Taskin and Hasan strike early in Sylhet Test as West Indies lose three wickets for 41 in 11 overs

Bangladesh's pace attack struck early in the West Indies innings at the start of the second Test in Sylhet. Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud put the visitors under pressure in the opening spell, and after 11 overs the West Indies were 41 for three.
Taskin Ahmed, back in the side, delivered the first breakthrough. His full-length delivery swung in, beat opener Brendon King's bat and hit the stumps directly. King was bowled for nine.
Taskin then claimed his second wicket, Joshua Da Silva. After building pressure with a controlled line and length, the Bangladesh pacer trapped Da Silva lbw, and the batter departed for 12.
Bangladesh did miss an early chance, however. In the second over of the match, Sadman Islam, fielding at slip, could not hold on to a catch off Hasan Mahmud's bowling. Even after that reprieve, the West Indies batting could not settle for long.
Hasan Mahmud soon showed his own skill. Kavem Hodge tried to leave his back-of-a-length delivery outside off stump, but the ball pitched, came in and skidded quickly onto the middle stump. Hodge returned without scoring.
With two wickets for Taskin and one for Hasan, the West Indies lost three batters right at the start of the innings. Through this opening in Sylhet, Bangladesh's bowlers signalled an attempt to bounce back, with the effort to put the previous match's failure behind them clear in their performance on the field.
