Md Anisur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Faridganj upazila in Chandpur, has taken a series of initiatives to make land services easy, transparent and free of harassment. Alongside ensuring services on a priority basis for helpless, widowed and disabled people, he is working to stop the dominance of brokers and middlemen.

Md Anisur Rahman joined as Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Faridganj upazila in October this year. After serving as an Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate, this is his first posting as AC Land. At the very start of his tenure, with new officers and staff in key posts of the office, he is trying to build an effective service system by creating coordination in the new work environment.

After taking charge, on 12 October a drive was conducted under his direction to remove illegal dredgers in the Purba Badarpur area of Rupsa Uttar union of the upazila. Later, on 18 October, he exchanged views with the Faridganj Bazaar Traders Committee; traffic congestion, keeping footpaths free of occupation, displaying price lists and market monitoring were among the issues discussed.

Alongside administrative duties, he is also emphasising sports and debate practice to engage young people in positive activities. Inaugurating an inter-upazila debate festival at the upazila level, he encouraged students to practise logical thinking, free thought and creativity.

Anisur Rahman has paid special attention so that no one coming to the land office for services is cheated through brokers or dishonest persons. Arrangements have been made so that service seekers can contact the officials concerned directly and receive the necessary services. He is himself monitoring the instructions given to officers and staff to provide quick service.

Meanwhile, Abdul Mannan, who has speech and hearing disabilities, and Rahima Begum, a widow, have received services from his office. Coming for land services, they did not have to face long delays or harassment. Rahima Begum became emotional after receiving the service in a short time; members of Abdul Mannan's family also expressed gratitude.

Anisur Rahman said: 'Faridganj is my first workplace after getting responsibility as AC Land. I will try to give my utmost here. I want to perform my duties with hundred percent sincerity and devotion. Using my previous experience of working in the district's sadar upazila, I want to make Faridganj's land services more beautiful and people-friendly.'

He added that he wants to change the common perception among people that a land office means suffering and that services cannot be obtained easily and quickly. His main goal is that service seekers receive the necessary services without any kind of harassment, and necessary instructions have been given to officers and staff for that purpose.
