The date for submitting the investigation report in the murder case of popular film actor Salman Shah has been deferred to 8 December.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana set the new date on Thursday.

The report was scheduled to be submitted today, but the court set a fresh date after the investigating officer, CID Inspector Ziaul Morshed, could not file it.

SI Wazed Ali, general registration officer of Ramna police station in the court’s prosecution department, confirmed the matter.

Salman Shah’s full name was Chowdhury Muhammad Shahriar Emon. Twenty-nine years after his death, a murder case was filed at Ramna police station on 21 October last year on the court’s order. The case was filed by Salman Shah’s uncle Mohammad Alamgir.

Eleven people were named as accused in the case statement. Several unnamed people were also made accused.

The accused are Salman Shah’s wife Samira Haque, Samira Haque’s mother Latifa Haque Lucy, businessman Aziz Mohammad Bhai, actor Ashraful Haque Don, David, Javed, Faruk, Rubi, Abdus Sattar, Saju and Rizvi Ahmed Farhad.

Earlier, on 20 October last year, Dhaka’s Sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Jannatul Ferdous Ibne Haque ordered the officer-in-charge of Ramna police station to accept Salman Shah’s “unnatural death” case as a murder case and submit an investigation report.

For nearly 29 years after Salman Shah’s death, the unnatural death case at Ramna police station was investigated. All police agencies investigated one after another, and each time the investigations said Salman Shah had died by suicide. The plaintiff’s side moved from one court to another.

After the case was filed at Ramna police station, Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on 27 October last year barred Samira Haque and Ashraful Haque alias Don from leaving the country. Don has since been arrested and sent to jail.
