Three more children die with measles symptoms, 1,396 new symptomatic cases in 24 hours; total deaths reach 1,272

In Bangladesh, three more children have died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. In the same period, measles symptoms have appeared in 1,396 more children across the country.

The figures were released in a press statement sent on Thursday (November 5) from the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services.

According to the directorate's count, since the measles outbreak began, the number of deaths from measles and with measles symptoms has now reached 1,272.

The report said that in the last 24 hours, measles was detected in tests on 69 children. In addition, 1,327 children received treatment with measles symptoms.

According to the directorate, from March 15 to November 5 this year, 1,167 children died with measles symptoms in the country. In the same period, 105 more children died among patients confirmed by tests to have measles.

The total number of suspected measles patients in the country has reached 235,475. Of them, 24,219 are measles patients confirmed by tests.

A total of 209,854 patients have been admitted to hospital so far. Of them, 201,153 have returned home after receiving discharge certificates on completion of treatment.
