After Oleshky ceasefire, Melania Trump hosts Russian and Ukrainian representatives at the White House

US First Lady Melania Trump has brought Russian and Ukrainian representatives together at the White House. The meeting on Thursday marked a six-day ceasefire in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian town of Oleshky, a ceasefire she helped broker.
At the meeting, Kirill Dimitrov, an envoy to Russian President Vladimir Putin, delivered a gift to Melania Trump. The gift was given to thank her for brokering the ceasefire between Ukrainian and Russian forces in Oleshky.
At the same event, Ukraine's human rights ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets gifted the First Lady with the Order of Princess Olga, 1st Degree award.
The meeting comes ahead of planned trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi, as Washington pushes for a deal to end the war.
At the centre of the White House gathering of the two warring countries' representatives was the Oleshky ceasefire itself — the six-day truce for which the First Lady's brokerage has been credited.
