The municipal unit of Chhatra Dal held a protest march in Sreepur, Gazipur, protesting against alleged planned sabotage, vandalism and anarchy carried out 'in disguise' by exploiting the ongoing movement of garment workers demanding a minimum wage of 30,000 taka.

The protest march was held on Thursday (5 November) at around 9am on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, from Aspada Mor to Ansar Road Mor in Sreepur municipality. Leaders and activists of various units of the municipal Chhatra Dal took part in it.

The march was led by Rifat Bepari, a candidate for general secretary of the Sreepur municipal Chhatra Dal and president of the Ward 7 Chhatra Dal. Leaders and activists of the Sreepur municipal Chhatra Dal carried out the programme on Thursday morning.

From the march, Chhatra Dal leaders and activists chanted various slogans, including 'Workers and BNP are brothers, there is no escape for the Awami League' and 'Awami League's thugs, beware'. The slogans also raised the subjects of Chhatra League and Jubo League.

Present at the protest march were Zakirul Islam, former senior joint secretary of Ward 7 BNP of Sreepur municipality, and former assistant organising secretaries Belal Prodhan and Abul Hashem.

Also in the march were Bachchu Prodhan and Leyakat Ali, joint conveners of the Sreepur municipal Jubo Dal, BNP leaders Nuruzzaman and Mofiz Uddin, and municipal Jubo Dal leader Russel Khan.

Others who took part in the programme included Jubo Dal leaders Shyamal, Maruf, Sohel and Rakib, Ward 7 Krishak Dal president Alam, Krishak Dal leader Hiron, Chhatra Dal leader Aminul, Ward 7 Chhatra Dal assistant general secretary Shahriar Islam Riyad, and Chhatra Dal members Radi, Masud and Faisal, among many others.

At the centre of Chhatra Dal's allegation in this programme is the garment workers' ongoing wage movement. The municipal Chhatra Dal held the protest programme raising the allegation that, by exploiting the movement for a minimum wage of 30,000 taka, sabotage, vandalism and anarchy are being carried out in the guise of workers.
