Meghna Alam Calls BNP a Family in Facebook Post, Stresses Support From Male Colleagues

Model, actress and politician Meghna Alam wrote about the BNP in a post on her own Facebook page on Thursday, 5 November. In the post she wrote that she prays her brother stays healthy, safe and well, and that men's cooperation and respect make the path of women's leadership easier.
Meghna Alam noted in the post that BNP leaders and activists have embraced her, some as a daughter, some as a sister and some as a member of the family. She wrote that wherever she goes, she receives slogans, love and spontaneous support from grassroots people.
Comparing a political party to a larger family, Meghna Alam said that when a new member joins a party, that person may not share everyone's identity or views. In that case, she said, it is the responsibility of the older members to explain things gradually to the new member, to resolve misunderstandings respectfully among themselves, and to keep the family's unity and honour intact.
She also said she will, God willing, stay with this family of hers and will sincerely try to protect the family's honour and harmony.
On women's political and social journey, Meghna Alam wrote that a woman's path is not a solo fight. When male colleagues become collaborators and fellow travellers rather than rivals, she said, a culture of equality, mutual respect and inclusive leadership develops in society and politics.
Meghna Alam, who is quite active on social media, often comes into discussion by sharing her opinions, personal feelings and reactions on various issues on Facebook. Discussion has also grown around this new Facebook post of hers.
