Bid to profit from workers’ movement will not succeed, BNP’s Rizvi says in Dhaka

Staff Reporter

BNP acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that no one will benefit from trying to fish in troubled waters by inciting the workers’ movement and creating tension.

Rizvi made the remarks at a press conference held on Friday (6 November) on preparations for National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

He said, ‘All this is being done to create an artificial crisis. Fugitive forces are also doing various things from hiding.’

Rizvi also claimed that the opposition party’s expression of solidarity with the movement proves its secret relationship with fascism.

He alleged that violence is being carried out behind the garment workers’ movement. According to him, the Jubo League and Chhatra League are inciting these incidents in an attempt to revive fascism.

Rizvi said factory owners linked to the Awami League are also involved in this anarchy. He also claimed that incitement is coming from a neighbouring country.

On the party programme, he said processions will be held tomorrow, Saturday, in the capital and in most districts and metropolitan cities across the country.

At 8:30 in the morning, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will pay respects at the graves of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. He will then inaugurate the procession from the party’s central office.
