Trump meets security advisers as question of new strikes on Iran looms, says decision coming soon
US President Donald Trump has met his security advisers amid fears of new strikes on Iran. The meeting took place on Thursday.
Axios reported on Friday (6 November) that it was Trump's first meeting with his security advisers since the midterm elections.
According to Axios, besides strikes, Trump has two other options. One is to continue economic pressure on Iran. The other is to make significant concessions and reach a deal with Iran. It is not yet certain whether he will strike or choose one of those two paths.
After the meeting, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that a decision would be made soon on whether to launch full-scale strikes on Iran again. He said he would decide now whether to continue the war and strike to make sure Iran's nuclear programme is completely finished and will not become active again.
Trump also threatened to destroy all of Iran if necessary, saying he would not want to destroy the rest of Iran but thought he might have to do it, and that reporters would find out soon.
