Jamaat and NCP ideologies are like oil and water; they cannot do politics together: Rashed Khan in Jhenaidah

Rashed Khan, political assistant to the prime minister, has said the ideologies of Jamaat and the NCP are like oil and water, which never mix with each other, and that they cannot do politics together either. He made the remarks on Friday (November 6) at noon, after Juma prayers, while answering journalists' questions following an exchange of greetings with locals at Paglakanai Mor in Jhenaidah town.
Rashed Khan said this does not match their political ideology and that the relationship between the NCP and Jamaat will not last. He said that before the election, the NCP, as a new party, joined an alliance with Jamaat in order to do parliamentary politics. At that time, young leaders such as Dr Tasnim Jara left the NCP, because the young leadership could not accept the NCP's alliance with Jamaat.
He added that Samantha Sharmin has now also left the NCP. If the NCP does not come out of the Jamaat alliance, important leaders like Samantha Sharmin will keep leaving the NCP day by day in this way. He told Nahid Islam to leave Jamaat and do politics.
On Jamaat, Rashed Khan said Jamaat speaks of Islam, but Jamaat leaders are getting involved in one women's scandal after another. He noted that the incident involving Gazi Nazrul of Satkhira is still much discussed.
Rashed Khan said an audio recording of Kushtia member of parliament and Jamaat leader Mufti Amir Hamza has come to him since yesterday and that he has fact-checked it and found it to be true. He claimed that the country's women are not safe in Jamaat's hands.
He added that although such incidents keep coming to light repeatedly, Jamaat is taking no action against these members of parliament. He remarked that if Jamaat keeps moving outside its ideology in this way, it will be destroyed.
Earlier on Friday morning, Rashed Khan arrived in Jhenaidah from Dhaka. He then offered Juma prayers at the Sayadatia Jame Mosque at Paglakanai Mor in the town. After the prayers, he exchanged greetings with local residents and worshippers.
District BNP vice-president K M Wazed, Sadar upazila BNP vice-president Jahid Joarddar, former Islamic University Chhatra Dal convener Shahed Ahmed and leaders and activists of the BNP and its associate organisations were present at the time.
