A nearly three-kilo hilsa sells for Tk21,850 in Tajumuddin, Bhola
A large hilsa fish has been sold for Tk21,850 in Tajumuddin upazila of Bhola. The fish weighed nearly three kilos, putting its price at about Tk7,667 per kilo.
The hilsa was sold on Thursday (5 November) in the Bagher Khal area of Sonapur Union in Tajumuddin upazila.
Local people said the sea-caught hilsa weighed 2 kilos 850 grams.
According to local people, a hilsa this large is not usually seen in the local market or nearby areas, so buyers and sellers paid special attention to the fish.
After much bargaining, the fish was sold for Tk21,850.
News that the huge hilsa had been brought to the market spread and created curiosity and interest among local people, and its high-price sale is being discussed in the area.
