Man arrested in Ghorashal over allegations of making pornographic videos using family members

Police in Narsingdi have detained a man named Gias Uddin Mia, 40, on allegations that he made pornographic videos using his wife and other family members and sold them to international pornography websites.
He was detained on Friday night, November 6, during a raid in the Ghorashal municipal area of Palash upazila.
Gias Uddin is the son of Babul Mia of Ghonapara in Kaliganj, Gazipur district. Palash police station officer-in-charge Shahed Al Mamun confirmed the detention.
According to police and intelligence sources, Gias Uddin had long lived in a rented house beside Islam CNG in the Bhagirathpur area under Madhabdi police station in Narsingdi. He is alleged to have used his wife, daughter, sister-in-law and niece to make the objectionable videos there.
According to the allegations, he then sold the videos to various international pornography websites for large sums of money. Detectives have also found information about suspicious financial transactions in his bank account.
Sources said that to evade surveillance, Gias Uddin recently planned to leave Bhagirathpur in Madhabdi with his family and move to the Paiksa area of Ghorashal municipality in Palash upazila. The family rented a house in a newly built building owned by a man named Manjur Morshed Liton in Paiksa.
After receiving a tip about the move, a team from the National Security Intelligence agency began watching the vehicle carrying their belongings. Acting on that information, Palash police raided and detained Gias Uddin.
Palash officer-in-charge Shahed Al Mamun said various items of evidence related to pornography were recovered from the house. He said anyone else involved in the incident would also be brought under the law.
Police said the process of taking legal action over the matter is under way.
