Governor Mostakur Rahman buys sweets at Dudhwala in Sylhet and pays through Bangla QR

Bangladesh Bank Governor Md. Mostakur Rahman has bought sweets at the Upashahar ABC Point outlet of Dudhwala, a well-known sweet and dairy shop in Sylhet, and paid for them through the Bangla QR system.
He took part in the activity on Friday, November 6, to encourage people to use cashless transactions.
Bangladesh Bank Sylhet office director Nowshad Mustafa and other senior officials of the central bank were present at the time. Nowshad Mustafa later spoke to journalists.
Nowshad Mustafa said that through Bangla QR, customers of different banks will be able to transact using a single QR code. This will reduce customers' transaction costs and make daily financial activities easier.
He also said it will reduce the cost of printing paper money and the health risks associated with using cash.
Nowshad Mustafa said Bangladesh Bank is taking various initiatives to encourage people to use Bangla QR. As part of that, the governor paid for products at the Dudhwala outlet using Bangla QR.
Dudhwala, a client institution of Mutual Trust Bank (MTB), came under Bangla QR about four months ago. Since then, the shop has been regularly accepting payments through the system.
