National Revolution and Solidarity Day today: BTV special programmes, live broadcast from 10am
November 7 is a significant day in Bangladesh's political history. On this day in 1975, historic solidarity developed between ordinary soldiers and the people. Through these events, martyred President Ziaur Rahman came into the mainstream of the country's power and leadership.
On the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day, Bangladesh Television (BTV) will broadcast special programmes today. BTV has arranged live broadcasts, poetry recitations, cultural programmes, a documentary and a special discussion programme around the day.
At 10 in the morning, BTV will broadcast live from Dhaka's Army Stadium a programme organised by the armed forces.
In the evening, an open-air concert organised by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs at the capital's Manik Mia Avenue will also be broadcast live. The concert has been organised on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day on 7 November. The concert, titled 'Concert for Solidarity', is being held with the cooperation of the Bangladesh Musical Bands Association (BAMBA), an organisation of band musicians.
At 4:30 in the afternoon, a programme of self-composed poetry recitation presented by Dr. Anarul Haque will be broadcast. Alongside conversations with eight poets, there will be recitations of eight poems written on Revolution and Solidarity Day.
At 10:40 at night, the documentary programme 'Biplober Dingulo' will be broadcast. At 11 at night there will be a special discussion programme. Presented by Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun, the discussion will feature the Prime Minister's adviser and BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan.
Various programmes have also been taken up at Dhaka University on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
Through BTV's day-long programmes — live broadcasts, poetry, music and discussion — the events of 7 November 1975 will be remembered.
