Tawhid Hridoy turned the criticism over his poor shot selection in the Mirpur Test into strength. In the Sylhet Test, the batter had already scored a century while standing amid the ruins. Now he has turned his maiden Test century into a double century.

Taking a single off the first ball of the 100th over, bowled by Jomel Warrican, Hridoy became the fourth Bangladeshi cricketer to reach a double century.

Mushfiqur Rahim was the first Bangladeshi cricketer to score a double century. The next two were Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal. The latest name on that list is now Hridoy's.

Hridoy had reached the first century of his Test career at a time of crisis for the team. He made that innings even bigger, passing 150 runs on the way before reaching 200.

It was the perfect answer with the bat from Tawhid Hridoy. After questions were raised in Mirpur about his ability to play Test cricket, he scored a fine century in Sylhet, reaching the first Test century of his career at a time of crisis for the team.

In the Mirpur Test, Hridoy was dismissed playing poor shots in both innings and came under heavy criticism. Questions were even raised about his ability to play Test cricket. But in the Sylhet Test, he silenced all the criticism with a fifty.

He turned that fifty first into a century and then into a double century. His innings, played while standing amid the ruins, brought Bangladesh close to the West Indies.

By turning his maiden century into a double century, Hridoy is now the fourth double-centurion in Bangladesh's Test history. His name now sits alongside Mushfiqur, Shakib and Tamim.
