Scuffle at Revolution and Solidarity Day rally in Barishal leaves Jubo Dal leader with broken nose

A scuffle and assault took place at a BNP rally in Barishal organised on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day. The incident occurred today, Saturday, at around 11:30am at a rally organised by the district and metropolitan BNP in front of the party office on Sadar Road in the city.
Md Atiqul Islam Rabbi, a former member of the Jubo Dal, was injured in the incident. His nose was seen bleeding after it split open. The injured Rabbi is a former member of Ward 9 of the Barishal metropolitan Jubo Dal. He is known as a follower of Member of Parliament Sarwar.
Eyewitnesses said a group of youths were seen running around at the time of the attack. Tension spread across the rally venue.
Rabbi alleged that he was standing near the stage while the rally was under way. At that time, several youths suddenly attacked him. One of the attackers was a man named Sobahan.
Rabbi said that during the Awami League government, the attackers were followers of Nirab Hossain Tutul, the Awami League's industry and commerce secretary. At that time, they used to extort money, and they had also gone to his shop to collect extortion money.
A dispute arose between them over this, and Rabbi claimed that he was attacked because of that dispute.
However, no statement could be obtained from the accused BNP worker, Md Sobahan, on the matter.
Barishal metropolitan BNP Member Secretary Ziauddin Sikder said on the matter, 'We were on the stage at the time of the fight. We will look into this unwanted incident and take action.'
