Lane Kiffin arrives at stadium with star entourage ahead of Alabama clash
LSU head coach Lane Kiffin arrived at the stadium with a star-studded entourage ahead of the big game against Alabama. As the team stepped off the bus at Tiger Stadium on Saturday, he was joined by NBA great Shaquille O'Neal, Pittsburgh Pirates ace pitcher Paul Skenes and WNBA star Angel Reese. Hollywood star Kevin Costner was with them as well.
O'Neal, Skenes and Reese all built outstanding careers in LSU's athletics programme, so their presence was natural. What Costner's connection to LSU is, however, is unclear.
Ahead of the match, Kiffin told fans he was sad about the changes coming to the LSU-Alabama rivalry, and urged them to start celebrating early.
This match is hugely important for LSU. A win over Alabama would greatly strengthen the team's case for a place in the College Football Playoff.
On the way into the stadium, Costner was seen playing a game on his phone. The star gathering ahead of the big match gave the stadium a festive atmosphere.
There was great excitement among LSU supporters around Saturday's match. At Tiger Stadium, known as Death Valley, the home side were desperate for a win against Alabama.
