16 Hours of Practice a Day, Recording in a Single Take: Sonu Nigam Moved by Son's Hard Work

Staff Reporter

Sixteen hours of vocal practice every day, recording in a single take in the studio — Nevaan Nigam, the son of Sonu Nigam, is working this hard to build his own identity in the world of music. His father Sonu is emotional seeing his son's dedication and transformation.

Sonu and his wife Madhurima Nigam have shared with fans the new chapter in the musical life of 19-year-old Nevaan.

In a post on social media, Sonu and Madhurima recalled many memories of Nevaan growing up, from his childhood to the present.

There was a time when Nevaan felt shy even singing in front of his father. That same boy has now devoted himself to practising music. Alongside vocal practice, he also regularly spends time improving his dancing skills.

Sharing a photo of his son, Sonu wrote, 'In this holy and auspicious moment of Diwali, Nevaan is beginning his journey in the world of music. Going a somewhat different way from his grandfather and father, he wants to find his own horizon.'

He further wrote, 'From a chubby little boy, he is today a fit and lean young man. The boy who was terribly shy about singing in front of his own father is now doing the exercises taught by his wonderful vocal teacher for 16 hours every day. In the studio, he is completing recordings in a single take with music producer Pu Bear.'

Sonu also mentioned Nevaan's physical change and hard work. There was a time when even jogging for just three minutes was hard for his son. Yet now he practises for hours to improve his singing.

Sonu said the whole family is happy at such a change in their son.

He further wrote, 'From Kolaveri D in the studio at the age of four to performing Abhi Mujhme Kahin on stage at four and a half — from the very beginning he has received your endless love. Please bless him so that his journey ahead moves forward with dignity, hard work, concentration and humility. Give him your love.'

Nevaan is formally beginning his journey in the world of music through a short film named 'Slide'. The idea for the film is his own.

He has also co-directed it with Alexander Cobian. Its music has been directed by 'The Audibles'. Nevaan is also taking vocal training from music producer Pu Bear.
