Shahina Islam Mukti becomes acting convener of NCP Narayanganj Metropolitan unit

Shahina Islam Mukti has been given charge as the acting convener of the Narayanganj Metropolitan unit of the National Citizen Party (NCP).
She was given the responsibility on 5 November by a decision of the party's central convener and member secretary.
The matter was confirmed today, 8 November, by Shawkat Ali, joint organising secretary (Dhaka Division North) of the NCP. He is the outgoing convener of the Narayanganj Metropolitan NCP.
Shawkat Ali said, 'According to the central decision, no central leader can hold a local post. Under that decision, the post of convener of the Narayanganj Metropolitan NCP has been declared vacant. Shahina Islam Mukti has been given charge as acting convener. I wish her success.'
Shahina Islam Mukti is the daughter of Sirajul Islam, former member of parliament elected from Narayanganj-4 on a BNP ticket and a freedom fighter commander.
Sirajul Islam served as a member of parliament from 1991 to 1996.
The change in Narayanganj Metropolitan unit has been made under the policy that central leaders will not hold local posts; Shahina Islam Mukti will now serve as the acting convener of the organisation at the metropolitan level.
