A mobile court has fined two establishments a total of Tk 60,000 in Moulvibazar town for preparing and storing food in unhygienic and unclean conditions. The drive was conducted by the district administration on Sunday afternoon in the Shamshernagar Road area of the town.

The operation was led by Md Mahfuzul Haque Ami, executive magistrate of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

According to mobile court sources, the inspection found unhygienic conditions, damp premises, and a lack of cleanliness in the preparation and storage of food at the two establishments. For these reasons, Ananda Food was fined Tk 50,000 and Meghbari Restaurant Tk 10,000.

Executive Magistrate Md Mahfuzul Haque Ami said traders were made aware of the need to follow health rules in preparing, cooking, storing, and serving food and to maintain a clean environment.

He said such drives will continue to protect public health and ensure consumer rights.

Those concerned believe that the district administration’s regular drives of this kind will raise awareness about food quality and hygiene and increase confidence among consumers.
