1,300 banned beauty creams seized at Chattogram airport
A total of 1,300 pieces of banned cosmetics weighing 40 kilograms have been seized from the baggage of a Dubai-returned passenger at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram. The seized products have an estimated market value of 800,000 taka.
On Saturday (November 7), acting on a tip-off, officials of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate took a cautious position at the airport.
At that time, they scanned and searched the baggage of passenger Mohammad Zahed, who had arrived on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-148 from Dubai to Chattogram, and found the cosmetics.
Engineer Ibrahim Khalil, public relations officer of Shah Amanat International Airport, said 1,300 pieces of banned cosmetics weighing 40 kilograms were seized from the baggage of Dubai-returned passenger Mohammad Zahed. The estimated market value of the products is 800,000 taka.
Customs intelligence authorities said importing these banned cosmetics violates the provisions of the applicable import policy order.
The authorities said surveillance at the airport continues to prevent these products, which are hazardous to public health, from entering the country and spreading into the market.
The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate also said such drives will continue to prevent the illegal import of health-harming products, including risky face creams, in order to protect public health.
