Implementing July Charter will leave no need for long marches, says Jamaat’s Golam Parwar
Mia Golam Parwar, secretary general of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has said that if the July Charter is implemented, there will be no long marches or road marches left. He said the opposition parties’ demand is the implementation of the July Charter.
Golam Parwar made the remarks on Sunday afternoon at a discussion meeting at the National Press Club, held to mark the anniversary of the signing of the July National Charter.
The Jamaat leader said the ground beneath the government’s feet has shifted, which is why it is trying to confuse the public. He alleged that the special committee led by Salahuddin Ahmed is betraying the July Charter in the name of constitutional amendment, and that the process is completely illegal under the constitution.
Golam Parwar said the BNP’s note of dissent had been rejected through the referendum.
On the economy and employment, he said many factories have closed and are still closing. The government promised jobs for one crore people, but the opposite is happening and people have no employment. He called for arrangements to reopen closed banks, saying this would create jobs for ordinary people.
On law and order, Golam Parwar said the situation is bad and that neither law nor order exists. He alleged that those who are in government get justice, while those who are not in government do not.
On expatriates, he said the foreign ministry is not playing its role in extending the visas of those living abroad. He said commodity prices are rising while people’s purchasing power is not, and alleged that some members of parliament play no role in their constituencies.
