Fake doctor held from chamber in Habiganj for treating patients under another physician's identity
A fake doctor named Arif Mia has been detained by SRB-9 in Habiganj town on allegations of treating patients using another physician's identity and prescription pad.
He was detained on Sunday night (25 October) during a raid at Madhumati Diagnostic Centre in the town's Shayestanagar area, conducted with the support of the district administration and the Civil Surgeon's office.
According to district administration and SRB sources, Arif Mia had been providing treatment at Madhumati Diagnostic Centre using the identity of Dr Mir Mahbubur Rahman. The raid was carried out on Sunday night acting on a tip-off.
The raid was led by Executive Magistrate Al Nadrun Bin Akon of the Deputy Commissioner's office. He was accompanied by officials of the Civil Surgeon's office and members of SRB-9's Shayestaganj camp.
During the raid, Arif Mia was found treating four patients and writing prescriptions using the other doctor's identity. He failed to produce his own medical certificates and necessary documents. He was then detained and handed over to Habiganj Sadar police station.
Executive Magistrate Al Nadrun Bin Akon said a regular case will be filed against Arif Mia.
Captain Mosharraf Hossain Sagar, commander of SRB-9's Shayestaganj camp, said the accused had been under surveillance for a long time. He faces allegations of cheating people at various places by posing as a doctor. He said a regular case has been filed over the incident instead of producing him before a mobile court.
