Staff Reporter

Bangladesh have recorded their first win at the FIFA Under-15 World Cup, beating Fiji 3-1 in their final group match today.

Bayezid put Bangladesh ahead in the fourth minute of the match. One minute later, Fahim scored the second goal, and Bangladesh went into the break leading 2-0.

Eight minutes into the second half, an own goal by Bangladesh brought Fiji back into the match and reduced the margin to 2-1.

Four minutes before the end of the match, Bayezid scored again to confirm Bangladesh's 3-1 win. Bayezid scored twice in the match and Fahim scored once.

FIFA is holding a World Cup at under-15 level for the first time. In the tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan, 189 teams are taking part in 32 groups. The 32 group champion teams will get the chance to play in the next round.

Bangladesh began their World Cup journey with a draw against Wales. The team then lost to Portugal and Burundi, and drew with Indonesia yesterday.

Today's win over Fiji is Bangladesh's only win in the tournament. After the group stage, Bangladesh will receive the plate-stage fixture tomorrow.
