Popular actress Tanjin Tisha is going through a difficult phase of her career. On one side her debut film faces uncertainty, and on the other a sari dispute has led to a total of three cases against her.

On Monday (26 October), plaintiff Sanaya Anam Wafikah Chowdhury filed a new case alleging that Tisha threatened to kill her to force the withdrawal of an earlier case concerning a sari worth 75,000 taka. In this case Tisha has been ordered to appear before the court.

Fashion designer and Velmet-Youth magazine editor Sanaya Anam Wafikah Chowdhury filed the case in the court of Dhaka Executive Magistrate Mu. Mahbub-ul-Alam. The court recorded the plaintiff's statement, accepted the case and ordered the accused to appear on 23 November to show cause. Plaintiff's lawyer Shuvro Sinha Rony confirmed the information.

Plaintiff Sanaya Chowdhury said the court has accepted her objection to the police investigation report in the earlier case filed against Tanjin Tisha over sari-related fraud, breach of trust and threats. Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam granted the objection on Sunday (25 October). After recording all witnesses' statements, the judge ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct a further investigation and submit a report by 31 December.

She added that after this, Tisha threatened to kill her through various intermediaries and sent people to her home. She said she holds more evidence beyond the circulated phone call recording, that she feels insecure, and that she filed the case believing she will get proper justice from the court.

Attempts were made to contact Tisha about the case. She did not answer several phone calls, and she did not reply to a WhatsApp message either.

However, in a social media post Tisha described the case as part of a large plan. In the post she asked why and for what purpose such a huge effort is being made to destroy a person's years of honour, career and achievements, and who is behind it. She said she holds the answers to many questions as well as evidence.

Earlier, on 27 October last year, Aponia Fashion executive Md Aminul Islam filed another case in a Dhaka court against Tanjin Tisha alleging fraud and breach of trust over a sari. The case was filed in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana.

According to that case's allegations, Tanjin Tisha joined Aponia's online page, viewed various saris and chose one priced at 28,800 taka. The sari was delivered to her home and she received it on 18 January 2025. The complaint states that although she assured she would promote the page wearing the sari, she did not do so in 10 long months and avoided contact for more than six months. The plaintiff applied for an arrest warrant in the case.

In that case, on 29 September this year Tisha appeared before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kamal Uddin and applied for bail. After a hearing the court granted her bail. Denying the allegations, Tisha had earlier claimed the sari had been given to her as a gift.

Separately, last year Tisha signed on to a film titled 'Soldier'. Shooting of her first film, alongside Shakib Khan, began in October last year. A two-and-a-half-minute video had indicated a possible release that December, but the release date was later set for December 2026. According to various sources, the film's shooting is still unfinished. Despite schedules being taken from the artists repeatedly, the unfinished shooting has left Tisha uncertain about her debut film as well.
