Mridha Nazrul Kabir, general secretary of the Shariatpur district unit of Jubadal, has announced that he will resign from the party if any 'hybrid leader' is given a place in the district's full committee.

He made the announcement on Tuesday (27 October) while speaking at a procession and street meeting in Shariatpur organised to mark the 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubadal.

At around 5pm that day, a colourful procession set out from in front of the Shariatpur Poura Auditorium. It marched through various roads of the town and ended at Chowrangi Mor.

The procession was led by Shariatpur-1 MP Saeed Ahmed Aslam, district BNP general secretary Sardar AKM Nasir Uddin Kalu, Krishak Dal central vice-president S M Faysal, district BNP vice-presidents Md Abul Hossain Sardar, Moniruzzaman Khan Dipu and Mohiuddin Badal, district Jubadal president Jamal Uddin Bidyut and general secretary Mridha Nazrul Kabir.

After the procession, a street meeting was held at Bottala in the town. Addressing it, Mridha Nazrul Kabir said dedicated and tested leaders and activists must be valued in Jubadal's full committee. If any 'hybrid leader' got a place in the committee, he would resign from the party, he said.

He also said that if those who had struggled for the party for a long time were left out and opportunists were placed in the committee instead, grassroots leaders and activists would be disappointed. He therefore demanded that the Jubadal committee be formed by properly valuing dedicated and tested leaders and activists.
