Bangladesh Police's Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Md Sayedur Rahman has instructed field-level police to identify the godfathers involved in drugs and teen gangs and take tough action against them. He gave the instruction on Tuesday afternoon, 27 October, while chairing the monthly crime review meeting at Police Headquarters.

Metropolitan police commissioners, range DIGs and district superintendents of police joined the meeting virtually. DIG (Crime Management) Mohammad Abu Sufian and other concerned officials were present at Police Headquarters.

Sayedur Rahman said the Bangladesh Police's position against drugs and teen gangs is one of 'zero tolerance.' He urged field-level officers to enhance the force's image by working with honesty, dedication and professionalism, and instructed them to behave humanely with the public while on duty.

The Additional IGP directed officers to record robbery cases and bring offenders to justice by quickly uncovering the facts. Stressing close supervision of rape case investigations, he said this would raise the conviction rate. He also directed officers to increase the disposal rate of other cases.

Sayedur Rahman called for effective and inclusive community and beat policing involving people with a positive image in society.

He conveyed the IGP's thanks to field-level police for the safe and peaceful celebration of the recent Sharodiya Durga Puja.

The meeting reviewed the overall crime situation, including the important incidents of September 2026. Robbery, dacoity, murder, rape, attacks on police and kidnapping cases, along with pending arrest warrants, investigation and trial progress and conviction rates, were discussed in detail.
