55th martyrdom anniversary of Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman observed in Jhenaidah

The 55th martyrdom anniversary of Bir Shreshtha Sepoy Hamidur Rahman was observed in Jhenaidah with various programmes. Prayers were offered for his soul through a discussion meeting and a doa mahfil.

On Wednesday morning (28 October), representatives of the Muktijoddha Sangsad, Gonotantrik Juktofront, BASAD, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front and various other organisations placed flowers at the memorial of Bir Shreshtha Sepoy Hamidur Rahman at the city's central bus terminal.

A discussion meeting was later held in the deputy commissioner's conference room. Deputy Commissioner Md Noman Hossain chaired the meeting.

Speakers at the meeting included district Muktijoddha Command Council commander Abdul Majid Master, former commander Md Kamaluzzaman, Zila Parishad chief executive Selim Reza, Additional Superintendent of Police Sheikh Billal Hossain, district BNP general secretary Zahiduzzaman Mona and Hafizur Rahman, nephew of Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman.

Also present were BASAD district committee convener Advocate Asadul Islam Asad, CPB district branch general secretary Abu Toyab Opu, Bangladesh Biplobi Communist League district branch general secretary Shahidul Enam Pallab and Jatiya Ganofront district coordinator Nehal Ahmed Sohel.

After the discussion, a doa mahfil was held seeking forgiveness for the soul of Bir Shreshtha Sepoy Hamidur Rahman, who sacrificed his life in the Liberation War. Special prayers were also offered for all deceased and war-wounded freedom fighters.

The prayers were led by Maulana Md Saidur Rahman, khatib of Jhenaidah Central Jame Mosque.
