Human chain and roadshow in Chuadanga demand safe roads, followed by meeting chaired by deputy commissioner

A human chain and roadshow demanding safe roads were held in Chuadanga under the slogan 'Safe roads, prosperous country — Bangladesh before everything'.
The programme was held at 11am on Tuesday (28 October) at Shahid Hasan Chattar at Chowrasta Mor in Chuadanga town. It was organised by Bangladesh Jatiya Nirapad Sarak and the non-governmental organisation Nirapad Sarak Chai (Nischa) Bangladesh.
Deputy Commissioner Lutfun Nahar and municipal administrator Sharmin Akter took part and walked through the town. Leaders and members of the district branch of Nirapad Sarak Chai (Nischa) were with them.
After the human chain, the roadshow set out from Shahid Hasan Chattar. It travelled via Kabari Road to the deputy commissioner's office.
A discussion meeting was then held in the deputy commissioner's conference room, chaired by Lutfun Nahar. Representatives of the Bangladesh Transport Workers Federation and various related organisations took part. The aim of the meeting was to ensure safe roads.
Views were exchanged at the meeting on reducing road accidents and deaths. Ending haphazard parking on roads, not driving at reckless speed, and controlling excessive vehicle movement and gatherings on one side of the road were discussed.
Necessary decisions were also taken at the meeting to implement the steps discussed, according to the organisers.
The organisers said they expected that greater public awareness and the combined efforts of everyone concerned would make it possible to reduce road accidents and deaths and ensure safe roads.
