Going abroad illegally harms the person, the family and the country's image too, expatriates' welfare minister says in Safipur, Gazipur

Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury has said that going abroad through illegal channels financially and socially harms the person concerned and their family, and also damages the country's image internationally.
He made the remarks at noon on Wednesday (28 October) while visiting the Ansar members' employment centre at the Ansar-VDP Academy at Safipur in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur.
The minister said everyone must follow the legal route when going abroad. Going abroad illegally exposes the person and their family to various kinds of harm, and such incidents also damage the country's image, he said.
Warning those who cheat people in the name of sending them abroad, he said people who defraud others by luring them with promises of overseas jobs would be brought under the law.
The minister also said would-be migrants must stay alert to protect themselves from such fraud and give importance to going abroad through the legal process.
Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and the Village Defence Party Major General Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, Gazipur-1 MP Mujibur Rahman, and senior officials of the ministry and Ansar-VDP were present during the visit.
