Primary pupils to receive 2027 textbooks on December 24, secondary books by the last week of December
The government plans to hand new textbooks to pupils earlier this time, rather than on the first day of the new year. Primary school pupils will receive the new books for the 2027 academic year on December 24.
Books for secondary-level students will also be distributed by the last week of December, it was announced.
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon gave the information on Wednesday (October 28) at a programme marking the founding anniversary of Bangladesh Open University.
The minister said teachers would be busy if the primary education completion examination or assessment falls in late December. That is why book distribution is being planned for December 24.
He said that after receiving the books, pupils will go on the Christmas and New Year holidays. They will begin studying with the new books once the holidays end.
Instructions on the matter have also been issued from primary education offices in various districts, according to the report.
New books are usually handed to pupils on January 1 every year. This time, however, the government wants to advance preparations for the new academic year by distributing the books on the very day the annual examination results are published.
