Banglalink Sales Representative Hacked and Robbed in Bagerhat; at Least 10 Robberies in the District in Two Months
Miscreants hacked a Banglalink sales representative in Bagerhat and snatched cash and SIM cards from him. The incident took place on Wednesday (October 28) afternoon on the road in front of the Kathaltala football field in Shatgambuj Union of Sadar Upazila. The seriously injured representative, Al-Amin Islam (37), has been admitted to the Bagerhat 250-bed District Hospital.
Al-Amin is the son of Goldar Sheikh of Karapara Union in Sadar Upazila. He works as a retail sales officer (RSO) for Banglalink Distribution.
Banglalink salesman Shariful Islam said Al-Amin was returning to town to deposit money at a bank after finishing work in the C&B Bazar area. On the way, at Kathaltala, three men on a green motorcycle blocked his path.
The attackers struck him on the neck with a sharp weapon. When he fell, they fled with the cash, SIMs and SIM cards he was carrying. He was later rescued and taken to hospital.
Dr Sheikh Sohelur Rahman of the emergency department of Bagerhat 250-bed District Hospital said Al-Amin has a sharp-weapon injury on his neck. He has been admitted to hospital and is out of danger for now.
Md Shamsul Arefin, officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Model Police Station, said police have visited the scene and efforts are under way to identify and arrest those involved.
Earlier, on September 3, miscreants robbed more than two lakh taka from a bKash worker at gunpoint at Heremer Mor in Bhadrapara village of Bemorata Union in Sadar Upazila.
In addition, at least 10 robberies have taken place in the last two months in various upazilas of the district, including Chitalmari.
