West Indies made a strong start in reply to Bangladesh's 272 in the Mirpur Test. After losing Brandon King early, Teznarine Chanderpaul and John Campbell lifted the scoring rate quickly for the visitors.

Campbell has already reached a fifty. It is the sixth half-century of his Test career and his third in a row.

King was out to Hasan Mahmud after scoring 15 runs. After that, Chanderpaul and Campbell attacked the Bangladesh bowlers and runs kept coming quickly on the West Indies scoreboard.

Campbell was given two lives early in his innings, on 5 and 22 runs. He used those chances to reach an important half-century.

Earlier, Bangladesh resumed the second day of the Mirpur Test on 213 for 3. Sadman Islam ended his wait for a century at the start of the day before stopping on 105 runs.

After Sadman's departure, Bangladesh's batting collapsed. Wickets fell one after another and the hosts' first innings ended before the lunch break.

Bangladesh's batters could not stand up to West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican's turn and Shamar Joseph's pace. Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored 15 runs and Naim Hasan made 5. The rest failed to build the innings, and Bangladesh were finally all out for 272 in 97.4 overs.

Poor light forced the umpires to take the tea break early. Play also remained stopped for 20 minutes. Rain then began.

Before going to tea, the visiting West Indies had reached 89 for 1. Campbell was unbeaten on 53 and Teznarine on 21.
