Father and Daughter Hacked to Death in Sirajdikhan, Munshiganj, Attacked on Way Back From Brickfield in Latabdi

Attackers hacked to death a six-year-old child named Tawba in Sirajdikhan, Munshiganj. Her father Golap Hossain, 38, was seriously injured in the incident. He died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 1pm on Thursday (29 October).

Police and local sources said the father and daughter were attacked at around 5pm on Wednesday. No one could say why they were attacked.

Local residents said the deceased Golap Hossain's home was in Ramkrishnadi village of Latabdi Union. But he lived with his family at his in-laws' house in Dosorpara village of the same union.

His father Joynal Mia had been working for the past five years at a brickfield in the Ramkrishnadi area, local residents said.

On Wednesday afternoon, Golap Hossain took his six-year-old daughter Tawba to the brickfield to meet his father. The father and daughter were attacked on their way back from there.

At that time the attackers hacked both of them with sharp weapons and fled. Child Tawba died on the spot and Golap Hossain was seriously injured.

Injured Golap Hossain was first taken to Abdullahpur Swadesh Hospital in Keraniganj, Dhaka. As his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He died there while undergoing treatment at around 1pm on Thursday.

Sirajdikhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Alauddin said it was not immediately known why and by whom the killings were carried out.

OC Md Alauddin said one person has been detained for questioning. Police are working to unravel the mystery of the incident.
