Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Students Block Road in Agargaon for Third Day Demanding Return of Old Trade Fair Ground

Students of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University in Agargaon, Dhaka, protested for a third consecutive day demanding the return of the old trade fair ground.
On Thursday (29 October) morning they took position at the China Moitree signal and blocked the road for about 20 minutes. Traffic in the area came to a halt.
On Thursday morning the students brought out a protest march from the university campus. They left through the first gate, passed beside the old trade fair ground and reached the China Moitree signal.
There they took position and chanted slogans demanding the recovery of the ground. Their roughly 20-minute presence on the road stopped traffic.
After the blockade, the students marched around the Bijoy Sarani-Mirpur highway. They later demonstrated and chanted slogans in front of the Public Works complex.
Slogans including calls about building the country through research were heard at the time.
The protesters later returned to the campus with the march. As of the writing of the report, the students were positioned in front of the university's administrative building chanting slogans.
Earlier, on Tuesday (27 October), the students gave the relevant authorities a deadline to remove the fair from the ground. When the fair was not removed within the deadline, angry students vandalised the fair gate on Wednesday (28 October).
The protesting students said their programme would continue until the university ground is returned.
A student taking part in the protest said they do not want any conflict and only want the university ground back. He said building another structure on the agricultural university's research ground is not acceptable in any way, and that they took to protest because no solution came despite repeated demands.
