The Department of Narcotics Control has seized 2,900 yaba pills from the Goran area under Khilgaon police station in the capital. A man named Kazi Sanaullah was arrested during the operation.

The raid was carried out by a team led by the department's Metro Khilgaon Circle. The department described the seized tablets as import-prohibited amphetamine-containing pills.

The department said on Thursday (October 29) noon that the raid was conducted on Wednesday at the accused's own shop, 'Kazi Store', at 619 Madina Road in South Goran.

During the raid, the yaba pills were recovered from a synthetic bag kept in the top drawer of the cash box inside the shop, packed in 10 blue zippered poly packets.

A case has been filed against the arrested man under the Narcotics Control Act, the department said.

Inspector Siddiqur Rahman, who led the operation, said the arrested man had long been selling yaba under the cover of his grocery business.

He said the shop was raided after the information was confirmed on the basis of sufficient evidence.
