Hasnat Abdullah Calls Mass Protest at Shahbagh on Friday Over Prices and Insecurity

Hasnat Abdullah, a leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has called a mass protest at Shahbagh in the capital in protest at rising commodity prices, higher fuel prices, a lack of public security, killings, extortion and looting.
The protest rally will be held on Friday (30 October) at 3pm in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh. The NCP's Dhaka Metropolitan North and South branches are organising the programme.
Hasnat Abdullah announced the programme in a video message published on Facebook on Thursday (29 October).
In the video message, he said the country was facing various problems, including rising commodity prices, higher fuel prices, insecurity and a lack of rule of law. He added that incidents of killing, extortion and looting had created concern among people.
Protesting these incidents, he said their fight would continue with the aim of establishing good governance and building a better society. He called on everyone to join the programme spontaneously.
