BNP Election Pledges Being Implemented to the Letter, Khairul Kabir Khokon Says in Narsingdi
BNP Joint Secretary General and MP for Narsingdi-1 (Sadar) Khairul Kabir Khokon has said the pledges the BNP announced in its election manifesto are being fulfilled to the letter.
He said the 31-point promises for state reform made before the election are being implemented.
According to Khokon, everything needed for social protection is being done, from family cards and farmer cards to support for elderly and disabled people and salaries for mosque imams and muezzins and temple priests.
He said the present government is working for people's welfare with the goal of building a happy, prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh.
He made the remarks on Thursday afternoon (29 October) as chief guest at the foundation-stone inauguration of a road in Alokbali Union of Narsingdi Sadar Upazila.
Khairul Kabir Khokon said they do not deceive or betray people, and that is why people repeatedly give them the responsibility of running the country.
He said the BNP did not come to power through the back door; the party came to power five times with a direct mandate from the people.
Speaking about the past 17 years, he said the Awami League carried out enforced disappearances, killings, repression, looting, corruption and injustice. He noted the party has been banned for crimes against humanity and genocide and that Sheikh Hasina was forced to flee the country.
He alleged that those collaborators are again engaged in a deep conspiracy to create an unstable environment in the country, and called on all leaders and activists to remain alert.
Announcing zero tolerance for drugs and terrorism, Khokon said no concession would be given for drugs, extortion, terrorism or land grabbing. Even party leaders and activists involved would not be spared, and criminals have no place in the party, he said.
He said police would bring under the law anyone found involved in disrupting law and order in the area, and party identity would not be considered in that case.
Chaired by Alokbali Union BNP convener Abdul Kaiyum Sarkar, the event was also addressed by Narsingdi district BNP vice-presidents AKM Golam Kabir Kamal, Faruk Uddin Bhuiyan and BA Rashid Nawsher, joint general secretary Mohsin Hossain Bidyut, mass-education secretary Abdur Rauf Fakir Roni, Narsingdi LGED executive engineer Mohammad Fulkan Badsha, district Chhatra Dal president Siddiqur Rahman Nahid and Alokbali Union BNP member secretary Joynal Abedin Sarkar, among others.
