Four police officers withdrawn after banned Jubo League marches in front of patrol car in Sirajganj

Four police personnel, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), have been withdrawn in Sirajganj over allegations of negligence after leaders and activists of the banned Jubo League held a protest march on a highway in front of a police patrol vehicle.
Sirajganj Superintendent of Police Mohammad Saiful Islam Santu confirmed the matter on Thursday night (29 October).
The withdrawn personnel are ASI Mohammad Ariful Islam Arif of Jamuna Bridge West Police Station, driver constable Abdul Gafur, and constables Nasimuzzaman and Morshedul Islam.
The police superintendent said a police vehicle was seen at the scene while members of the banned organisation were holding their protest march. A committee has been formed to investigate whether the officers on duty were negligent, and the four personnel who were in the vehicle have been withdrawn for the sake of the investigation.
Earlier, at dawn on Wednesday (28 October), Jubo League leaders and activists held the march on the Jamuna Bridge west connecting road. They staged the programme to protest the verdict delivered against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and other Awami League leaders.
A video of the march spread across Facebook accounts of Awami League leaders and activists and those of its affiliated organisations. A photograph of the march was later posted on the Awami League's verified Facebook page, and the incident was reported in several media outlets.
On Wednesday night, police from Sirajganj and Kamarkhanda stations raided the area and arrested four leaders and activists of the Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League and Chhatra League in connection with the march.
