A television series is being made from 'Good Books', the forthcoming novel by British writer Tahmima Anam, who was born in Bangladesh. Anam herself is shaping the series' script jointly with Emmy-nominated screenwriter Alison Brown.

Alison Brown has won acclaim writing for many popular series, including 'Emily in Paris', 'Younger', 'Upload' and 'Stuck in the Middle'.

According to a report by Variety, the series is being produced jointly by the British-American production company Pacesetter Productions and Kudos.

The story of 'Good Books' revolves around events inside the publishing world. It follows an unexpected meeting between Raya Chatterji, who works at a New York bookshop, and Pru MacNeil, a renowned London literary agent.

After that meeting, a new career opportunity opens up in Raya's life. She has to return to London, the city of her birth, and confront various hidden secrets of the past she left behind.

The novel was formally announced last August at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, where Tahmima Anam took part in several panel discussions. During the festival itself, the UK publisher Canongate completed a deal to publish the book.

At the same time, Canongate's American partner Scribner bought the book's North American rights. The book is expected to reach the market in 2028.

At the time of the deal, the publishers described the book as a blend of 'The Devil Wears Prada' and 'Yellowface'. In their words, the novel captures how books are made and who makes them, impostor syndrome, and above all the many sides of a mother-daughter relationship.

Tahmima Anam is the author of the acclaimed Bengal Trilogy, including 'A Golden Age' and 'The Good Muslim'. She won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize for her first novel and later received the O. Henry Award. Her novel 'Uprising' was shortlisted for the Orwell Prize for Political Fiction.

Anam, who studied anthropology at Harvard University, is currently a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
