Biman forms four-member probe committee over mechanical fault on flight BG-377 carrying the prime minister

Staff Reporter

A four-member investigation committee has been formed to look into the cause of the mechanical fault on the Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight that was carrying Prime Minister Tarique Rahman back from Japan.

The committee was formed through an office order of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Friday (October 30).

Earlier, on Thursday (October 29), the fault was detected on flight BG-377 at Tokyo's Narita International Airport, before the flight departed for Dhaka.

The investigation committee has been asked to uncover the real cause and nature of the technical fault.

The committee will also review the steps that were taken to ensure the aircraft's airworthiness.

In addition, it has been asked to assess the impact created by the fault, including the flight delay, the suffering of passengers, and the effect on the institutional image of Biman.

The committee has also been directed to examine whether there was any negligence in duty or procedural fault on anyone's part, determine responsibility, and prepare recommendations needed to prevent a recurrence of such incidents in the future.
