Attempts to make the Liberation War controversial must be resisted: Minister Ahmed Azam Khan

Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan has said the Liberation War and independence are Bangladesh's greatest achievements, and any attempt to make those achievements controversial through false history and misinterpretation must be resisted.
He made the remarks on Friday (30 October) while speaking as chief guest at a discussion meeting organised at the National Press Club in the capital on the occasion of the publication ceremony of a book written by author Basudeb Poddar.
The minister said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has taken on the responsibility of rebuilding Bangladesh. He said a group has been trying for a long 18 years to make the Liberation War controversial, but the Liberation War and independence stand above everything.
Ahmed Azam Khan also said the government is continuing its work to prepare a list of genuine freedom fighters in order to settle the debt of history.
The minister called on writers to raise their voices against those who want to destroy the state by using it for their own interests.
At the same time, he urged people from all classes and professions in the country to come forward to face the difficult challenge of presenting the correct history of the Liberation War.
