Jamaat-e-Islami has begun liaising with India in order to come to power, the prime minister's political assistant Rashed Khan has said. He made the remark on Friday (October 30) in Jhenaidah, answering journalists' questions after exchanging greetings with locals following Jumu'ah prayers at the Old DC Court mosque.

Rashed Khan said the Awami League used to appease India to stay in power, and now Jamaat is trying to reach power by appeasing India in the same way. He also claimed that Jamaat's top leaders are holding secret meetings with officials of India's intelligence agencies.

On the defeat of the Jamaat candidate in the Thakurgaon by-election, Rashed Khan said people no longer accept Jamaat's sale of 'tickets to paradise'. They succeeded in the national election but failed in the Thakurgaon by-election, he said.

He further said the people of Khulna division will show them the red card tomorrow, and that the 11-party alliance's weakest long march, compared with other divisions, will be in Khulna division. He also remarked that they are not holding street rallies in Gopalganj out of fear of the Awami League.

Jhenaidah district BNP president MA Majid, general secretary Zahiduzzaman Mona, and leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organisations were present at the time.
