Jamaat Would Have Won the National Election Too If Voting Were Held on Facebook: Abu Hanif

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami would have won the national election too if the election had been held on Facebook, Gono Odhikar Parishad spokesperson Abu Hanif has commented.
He made the comment in a post on social media on Friday (30 October).
In his post, Abu Hanif said that in the Thakurgaon-1 by-election, Mirza Faisal Amin, contesting with the Sheaf of Paddy symbol, received 227,917 votes. His nearest rival, the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate contesting with the Scales symbol, received 96,513 votes.
As a result, the Sheaf of Paddy candidate was unofficially elected by a huge margin of 131,404 votes, he noted.
Abu Hanif said that after losing, Jamaat is bringing forward various allegations, although this is their old character.
He said: "In this election, Jamaat applied all its strength. Jamaat's top leaders went from Dhaka to Thakurgaon and campaigned for the Scales. But the people did not respond to their call."
According to Abu Hanif, Jamaat created such hype on social media that it seemed Jamaat had won even before the election. He claimed this happened not only in the Thakurgaon by-election; Jamaat ran the same campaign on social media before the national election as well.
He further said that they ran polls on social media featuring BNP and Jamaat candidates, and in those polls a bot army voted to show Jamaat candidates winning by huge margins. He commented that all of this was Jamaat deceiving the people.
Abu Hanif said the matter is such that — not only in the Thakurgaon by-election, Jamaat would have won the national election too if the election had been held on Facebook. Because Jamaat's voters are not the people; their voters are the bot army. And with this army, he claimed, Jamaat has occupied Facebook.
