Coaches separated from the Mohanganj Express train while it was moving in Gafargaon, Mymensingh. After the separation, the railway engine travelled about two kilometres with several coaches. Train movement on the Dhaka-Mymensingh railway was suspended for about an hour as a result.

The separation happened on Friday (30 October) at around 2:45 pm in the area between Kawraid and Mashakhali railway stations.

Mymensingh Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Akter Hossain confirmed the matter. He said that as the Dhaka-bound-for-Mohanganj intercity Mohanganj Express was crossing the area between Kawraid and Mashakhali stations, a hook broke and the section including the engine separated and travelled about two kilometres.

Akter Hossain also said that once the driver realised what had happened, he stopped the train and pushed back to the separated coaches. Railway staff later reconnected the separated coaches. After the hook was repaired, the train left again for Mymensingh.

The officer-in-charge of Mymensingh Railway Police Station also said train movement on that route is now normal.
