HSC and equivalent results out today: SMS results now on new number 16140
The results of this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations are being published today, Saturday 31 October. The results publication programme will be inaugurated at 11am at an event at the Ministry of Education.
In a press release, the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee said students will be able to get their results in three ways — through the online results portal, through their own educational institutions, and by SMS or text message on mobile phones. However, no results will be available at the Ministry of Education, the education boards or newspaper offices.
There is one important change in how results can be obtained this year. The education boards have changed the number for getting HSC results by SMS. In previous years, results could be obtained by sending an SMS to 16222, but this year, 2026, students must send the SMS to the new number 16140.
To get results by text message, students must write HSC, then the first three letters of their board's name, their roll number and the exam year, and send it to 16140. As an example, the board said: write HSC Dha 123456 2026 and send it to 16140. The SMS can be sent from any mobile phone number.
Results will also be available online. Candidates can collect their results through the education boards' common website and the website of their respective education board. Results can also be collected from their own educational institutions.
All educational institutions must collect the board-published results through the website. The board has advised the institutions concerned to download and publish the results online by clicking on the result corner of the website and using the board and the institution's EIIN (the institution's identification number).
This year's HSC and equivalent examinations began on 2 July 2026. The written examinations were scheduled to end on 8 August, but several examinations of the Chattogram education board were postponed due to a natural disaster. The postponed examinations were held later.
This year, a total of 1,270,583 candidates — regular and irregular combined — took part in the HSC and equivalent examinations. However, a considerable number of candidates were absent from the examinations.
