The results of the HSC and equivalent examinations 2026 will be published today, Saturday (October 31), at 11am. But officials say a claim about the pass rate that spread on social media before the results is misleading.

The claim, citing a pass rate of 53.23 percent, is being circulated on various Facebook pages, groups and personal accounts. Under the headline 'Breaking News: HSC exam pass rate 53.23 percent', more than fifty pages, groups and personal accounts have spread the claim through photo cards and written posts.

Officials said there is no way to know such information before the results are published. The country's 11 education boards finalise their results and send them to the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, after which the results of all boards are combined to finalise the overall result.

They added that, as a result, no one is supposed to hold the combined results of all 11 boards at once. Even though the relevant people at the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee hold result information before publication, it is kept under strict secrecy, and there is virtually no way to know the pass rate or any other figure before the official announcement.

Inquiries found that the claim began spreading from a fake screenshot made in the name of a television channel's news ticker. The screenshot read: 'Latest: HSC exam results to be published on October 31, pass rate 53.23%'.

The screenshot was later circulated using the name of Somoy TV on various Facebook pages, groups and personal accounts. Some made photo cards from the screenshot, while others spread the same claim in written posts.

No reliable basis has been found for the 53.23 percent pass-rate figure circulated before publication. Officials therefore advise treating such circulated information as misleading until the results are officially announced.

A revised press release from the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee said Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon will inaugurate the result publication ceremony in the meeting room of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education.

The release said that as soon as the ceremony is inaugurated, the boards' results will be published simultaneously at educational institutions and online. Institutions will be able to download results from the eduboardresults.gov.bd and educationboardresults.gov.bd websites.

Candidates will also be able to check results on those websites and on their respective education board's website. Results can also be collected from their own educational institutions.

To get results by mobile phone, candidates must write HSC, add a space, then the first three letters of their board's name, another space, their roll number and the exam year, and send the SMS to 16140. The release gave the example 'HSC DHA 123456 2026' sent to 16140.

Applications for re-scrutiny of answer scripts can be made online from November 1 to November 7. The application process and related instructions will be published on the education boards' websites. The release also said no results will be available directly from an education board, the Ministry of Education or a newspaper office.
