Attackers Snatch Accused in Nine Cases Including Murder from Police in Noakhali's Hatiya

In Hatiya, the isolated island upazila of Noakhali, attackers have snatched Nizam Uddin, an accused named in the FIR of several cases including murder, from police after his arrest.

The incident took place on Friday (30 October) around 7 pm at Ramcharan Bazar in Sukhchar Union of the upazila.

Nizam Uddin, who was snatched away, is the son of the late Saidul Haque of Char Amanullah village in ward number 7 of Sukhchar Union. He is a union parishad member of the same ward.

Police said there are nine cases against Nizam Uddin under various sections including murder. He is a warranted accused in the murder case.

According to police, a police team arrested him from Ramcharan Bazar after Friday evening. At that time, a group of attackers surrounded the police and snatched Nizam Uddin away from them.

Hatiya police station officer-in-charge (OC) Kabir Hossain said that after Nizam Uddin was arrested, his relatives surrounded the police, and taking advantage of this opportunity, he fled.

The OC also said police are trying to arrest him again. In addition, legal action will be taken against those who obstructed the police in their duty.
