Netflix Is Making a Live-Action Series on 'PUBG', With Donald Glover at the Centre

Netflix is now making a live-action series based on the popular battle royale video game 'PUBG', or 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds'. Hollywood star Donald Glover will both play the central role and direct the series.
According to a Deadline report, Donald Glover's brother Stephen Glover will write the script with him and serve as an executive producer. The two brothers previously worked together on works such as 'Atlanta', 'Swarm', 'Guava Island' and 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith'.
Also involved in producing the series are Michael Schaefer of Neon TV, Gilgar Fam Udiorgi and the entertainment arm of Krafton, the company that originally created PUBG.
PUBG has been popular worldwide since it came to market in 2017. The game, which has set multiple Guinness World Records, has millions of active users every day.
However, the game has no specific story or plot. One hundred players are dropped onto an island and the fight continues until the last one survives. There is widespread curiosity among viewers and gamers about how a completely plotless game will be turned into the story of a live-action series. The detailed plot of the series' possible story has been kept secret for now.
If the project sees the light of day, it will be the latest addition to Netflix's long list of video game-based productions.
Netflix is currently making a TV series on 'Assassin's Creed' and a live-action film on 'Gears of War'. Animated series on 'Minecraft' and 'Clash of Clans' are also in its pipeline. Before this, Netflix delivered video game adaptations such as 'Splinter Cell: Deathwatch' and 'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners'.
